Outstanding Senior
Lawrence Jones, class valedictorian for 1959, has been selected as participant in a summer training program for talented high school seniors and juniors at North Carolina College. This program, sponsored by the National Science Foundation will last for six weeks, beginning on June 8.
The program at North Carolina College will feature the experimental approach to the sciences, and each student, in addition to his course lectures, will undertake research problems in accordance with his individual interests.
Driver Education
During the summer months, Mrs. M. Swayze and A. Jones will be instructing students in driving a car.
We feel this is a wonderful opportunity for you or your child (if you are a parent) to learn how to drive. First you must remember that this program will teach the proper methods in handling a car. Secondly, there is a reduction on insurance for boys if they successfully pass the course. We feel these concrete reasons would convince you to let your child participate in this program. Its success depends on your support.

Class Night
You missed a treat if you didn't attend the class night activities Friday night.
The seniors gave a play entitled "Portrait of a Class." A panel questioned certain persons of the class to find out what they represented. In this manner the class historian, called the "Ghost of the Living," and others were introduced to the audience. The seniors presented the parents and teachers with gifts which is contrary to what is ususally done. The seniors also gave Mrs. Lila Davis, their Advisor, a brief case. They gave Prin. Debnam a large picture of himself in a beautiful frame. The evening proved to be a most pleasant one.
